Forest School
Forest School is a unique educational experience that offers children the opportunity to develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in woodland environment.
At Penketh South, we are very proud of our Forest School and by using our fantastic on school site we hope to inspire children of all ages to have positive and empowering experiencies in the great outdoors.
We challenge children to take and manage risks independently (with support from adults if needed). Our sessions consist of games, activities (both adult and child led) as well as exploration of the natural world around us.
Forest School is a stimulating enviornment that sparks curiosity and because the sessions take place in all weathers (exept in high winds and electrical storms) the ever changing surroundings means no sessions are ever the same. Our main aims are to promote children's independence, perseverance, team work, emotinal resilience and most importantly, their confidence through engaging them in motivational tasks.
At Penketh South we aim to offer each class one session per week (morning or afternoon) for at least one half-term per school year. This operates on a rota system to provide opportunity for every class to participate and experience the change of seasons.
