English is the foundation of our curriculum. It unites the skills of reading, writing and oracy, which are vital to help our children become learners for life. The three elements work alongside each other to enable children to make sense of the world around them and understand the way language is used to communicate. At Penketh South we want every child to be confident and fluent in expressing themselves through a variety of different means and develop English skills for life. We strive to create a community of readers and writers who use their English skills confidently and competently across all lessons. We hope to foster a love of language and text through our approach to teaching and learning.
